CCEC members should see savings on end-of-year bills. Residential members will be paying less for electricity —about 13.5 percent less— on bills mailed in November and December.

That’s for two reasons. First, our lower winter residential rate went into effect Nov. 1. Secondly, our power costs for this year were lower than projected. That allowed us to eliminate the wholesale power cost adjustment (WPCA) charge implemented earlier this year and add a credit for the last two months. You reap the benefits because you are a member of the co-op.

The WPCA reflects fluctuations in the wholesale cost of power the cooperative purchases for its consumers and is typically due to changes in the cost of fuels used for generating electricity.
