Through Operation RoundUP, Carteret-Craven Electric Cooperative members are making a difference across our local communities with spare change.
Operation RoundUP allows participating members to round their monthly electric bill up to the next whole dollar. Those spare cents, averaging about $6 per year, are combined with contributions from thousands of fellow members and distributed through the Carteret-Craven Electric Foundation to support local nonprofits, educational initiatives, and community assistance programs.
Thanks to the generosity of participating members, the Foundation recently awarded grants to organizations serving residents throughout our area, including:
- Children’s Cancer Centers of The Carolinas. Funds will be used to assist families in CCEC’s territory with expenses related to their child’s cancer treatment.
- Broad Street Clinic Foundation. Funds will be used to provide glucose monitors and emergency medication.
- Numerous contributions to schools, sports teams, and other LOCAL charitable organizations.
These grants help fund programs that improve quality of life, support education, address community needs and strengthen the places we call home.
Operation RoundUP also helps support Bright Ideas Education Grants, which provide funding for innovative classroom projects that engage students and enhance learning. Local teachers with creative ideas for hands-on lessons and educational experiences are encouraged to apply. Applications for this year’s Bright Ideas grants are due Sept. 15.
In addition to charitable grants, Operation RoundUP funds scholarships for local students pursuing higher education. The Foundation’s scholarship application period for the 2026-2027 academic year opens Sept. 1. Learn more about available opportunities here.
