Powering On Together Into 2026

From setting the annual budget and work plan to representing our members in Raleigh and Washington, D.C., the Carteret-Craven Electric Cooperative (CCEC) Board of Directors never loses sight of what matters most — you, our members. As the owners of your cooperative, you elect directors to speak for you, guide decisions, and ensure that your best interests are always front and center.

“As directors of your cooperative, we’re united by a shared purpose,” said Board President Amy Lock. “We’re your neighbors, coworkers, and friends — and we take pride in serving the same community we call home.”

Guided by the cooperative principle of Concern for Community, CCEC’s mission goes far beyond keeping the lights on. While reliable, affordable energy will always be our top priority, we also see ourselves as partners in progress — helping our communities thrive through service, support, and opportunity.

Giving back to the communities we serve

“Every month, your small acts of generosity create big change,” Lock shared. “When you round up your electric bill through our Operation RoundUP® program, you’re directly helping neighbors in need.”

Funds from Operation RoundUP® are managed by members who volunteer to serve on the Carteret-Craven Electric Foundation board. Together, they carefully review grant requests from local nonprofits and community programs — from food pantries and shelters to healthcare services and energy assistance programs.

CCEC works closely with local schools to provide electrical safety and career presentations, award scholarships, and support classroom innovation through the Bright Ideas Education Grant Program. Each spring, the co-op hosts line technician camp for area high school students, introducing them to rewarding careers in the energy field — and we’ve even welcomed two former participants to our co-op team.

We’re also proud to sponsor students for Cooperative Leadership Camp, Rural Electric Cooperative Youth Tour, and provide scholarships to the UNC and NC State Basketball Camps — opportunities that help young people grow, learn, and lead.

“Your participation in Operation RoundUP® empowers us to give back,” Lock said. “Together, we’re building stronger communities, one small act at a time.” Visit ccemc.com/foundation to learn more or enroll in Operation RoundUP®.

Your Voice Lights the Way

We want to hear from you. Our members’ ideas, feedback, and experiences help shape the direction of your cooperative. Whether through community events, social media, or face-to-face conversations, your voice helps guide the decisions we make each day.

Be sure to mark your calendars for May 7, 2026, and join us for the 86th Annual Meeting of the Membership — a night of good food, fellowship, entertainment, and prizes as we celebrate another year of growth and service.

Powering through together

As we look back on 2025 and make plans for 2026, we do so with gratitude — for your trust, your support, and your shared commitment to our mission. On behalf of the CCEC Board of Directors and employees, we wish you and your family a joyful holiday season and a bright, prosperous new year.
