A New Way to Save with Time-of-Use

Beginning in October, CCEC will offer a new voluntary residential rate option, an all-energy Time-of-Use (TOU) rate, giving members another opportunity to take control of their energy costs. The concept is simple: when you use electricity can make a difference in your bill.

With the Time-of-Use rate, electricity costs less during certain times of the day and more during periods when demand is highest. By shifting some everyday activities to lower-cost times, you may be able to save money on your monthly bill.

Think about the things you already do every day like running the dishwasher, washing clothes, charging an electric vehicle, heating water or using other appliances. If you have the flexibility to do some of those things during lower-cost hours, you could stretch your energy dollars.

The best part? You’re in control. The new Time-of-Use rate is optional, so you can look at your household’s energy habits and decide whether it makes sense for you. CCEC will provide information and tools to help you understand the rate, including a rate calculator that can help you estimate how it could affect your bill.

For members who are able to shift some of their electricity use, Time-of-Use can be another way to use energy smarter, take advantage of lower-cost hours and potentially save. Members can try the rate for up to 12 billing months with added peace of mind. If the standard residential rate would have resulted in a lower bill, CCEC will credit you the difference.
