CCEC has expanded the benefits of its Connect to Save initiative by offering FREE Google Nest smart thermostats to members who enroll in the program by March 21.
The timing of this offer and the program, in general, couldn’t be better. Connect to Save benefits our members all year long, but its impact is especially important during times of year when energy use is higher, such as the cold winter months. These smart devices not only help individual members save, but they also work together across the co-op network to reduce demand for power during peak times, which helps keep costs lower for our entire membership
Typically offered through the program at a deeply discounted rate of $25, these devices automatically adjust their temperature settings during times of high demand for power in an effort to help lower energy use and associated costs. In addition to a free smart thermostat, members can receive $50 for installing a smart water heater control on their electric water heater through the program.
Innovative programs like Connect to Save are part of the cooperative’s commitment to building a brighter future for the people and the local communities it serves. With a long-term goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2050, and an interim target of a 50 percent reduction in carbon emissions from 2005 levels by 2030, the co-ops are leveraging new and existing technologies to shape the future of the electric grid and better serve their members.
