Your Voice
Carteret-Craven Electric Co-op (CCEC) conducts its Annual Meeting of the Membership each year “to elect directors, hearing and passing upon reports covering the previous fiscal year, and transacting such other business as may properly come before the meeting.”
The cooperative is not owned by faraway shareholders, and it is not run by an appointed board of directors. We are run by a democratically elected board of directors – a board elected by you and given the privilege to serve because of your votes. 3 candidates are up for re-election each year. If there are contested races, elections are conducted by mail, with the results announced at the annual meeting. If directors run unopposed, we do not send out ballots for those director seats.
Beyond the election, the annual meeting is also an opportunity for members to learn about programs offered by CCEC and get the chance to get to know the co-op staff and directors. On the flip side, our annual meeting makes it possible for us to gather feedback from you on how we can better serve you and your family.
A favorite part of our meeting is our prize giveaway. Traditionally, we give away several $75 cash prizes, up to $1,000 in free electricity for 6 months, and a vehicle retired from the co-op’s fleet.
2026 Annual Meeting & Member Celebration
CCEC’s 86th Annual Meeting and Member Celebration took place on Thursday, May 7, at Glad Tidings Church in Morehead City. 493 members attended the meeting. Those in attendance received a mini lantern, and members who stayed until the end of the business meeting had the chance to win cash, free electricity, or a retired co-op 2018 Ford 150.
