Scammers have been targeting our members by calling them and demanding electric bill payment or face immediate cutoff.
ff you ever doubt the identity of someone claiming to represent your electric provider over the phone, hang up and call the company using the phone number listed on your bill or another official document.
Similar incidents have been reported by other electric utilities in this area, and all have similar protocols for disconnecting service. None will ask for immediate payment or the release of sensitive financial or personal information by phone.
All utility customers need to be aware of this scam and should never provide anyone who calls with personal or account information.
