HELPFUL TIPS - GENERATOR SAFETY

Today, more and more people are purchasing stand-by or backup generators for their homes and businesses.  These can be a big help during power outages but safety should be a major concern.  If you are going to have the generator feed your home directly, you should contact a licensed electrical contractor to wire the unit safely and according to the Electrical Code.  This will prevent dangerous situations to you and to electrical personnel restoring power.  Click on the link below to see and print a copy of proper generator procedures.

Generator Safety Brochure

The November edition of Consumer Reports had a good article on selecting a stand-by generator.  You can access their site at: www.ConsumerReports.org.

Some information may be in PDF format and you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open and read.  If you do not have Acrobat Reader, you may download a FREE version by clicking on the link below and following the instructions.
