Higher electric bills always seem to come at the wrong time. But your
Cooperative can help you do something about it, AND help get your budget
under control. Just
sign up for the Equalizer Payment Plan and pay the same amount each month.
The Equalizer brings your highest bills down and your lowest bills up to
the same amount each month by averaging your bills over the past 12
months.
You'll still get the same statement each month to show how much
electricity you've used, but you'll only have to pay the
"equalized" amount. Anyone who is on a fixed income or operates
within a tight budget could benefit from equalized payments. Anyone who
would like to pay by bank draft and know in advance how much would be
drafted could appreciate the plan also.
How can you be sure your payment is in line with what you actually use?
We periodically check each budget account to make sure that what you are
paying does not differ too much from the amount of electricity you are
using. If the amount differs, the account will be adjusted to reflect the
proper amount. You
can return to normal billing procedures by requesting by phone, by fax
(252- 247-0235), in writing or in person that we remove you from the
program. Any outstanding balance would be settled at that time.
Anyone who tampers with his meter, is disconnected for nonpayment or
moves to a new location will be removed from the program and the account
will be settled at that time. The usual payment deadlines still apply. No
extensions for payment on the equalizer payment will be allowed. We'll be
glad to calculate your monthly equalizer bill for you, so you can see just
what your payments would be with this service. We won't charge you to do
this! It's just another benefit of being a member-owned cooperative. Call
