Carteret-Craven
Electric Cooperative now offers two scholarship programs, one
for students attending Carteret Community College and Craven
Community College and one for graduating high school seniors.

SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS
Five
high school seniors, at least one each from
East
Carteret
,
West
Carteret
,
Croatan and
Havelock
high schools, will be selected. Students who attend other
schools, such as Jones Senior or Gramercy, are pooled with the
remaining applicants for the fifth scholarship. The scholarships
are for $1,000 annually and are renewable for a total of four
years.
The
selection criteria includes 50 percent need; 25 percent academic
achievement, based on transcripts,
SAT
score, and grade-point average; and 25 percent extracurricular
activities, such as clubs, sports, special projects, community
and church involvement. Carteret-Craven Electric Cooperative
will rule on the eligibility of each applicant. To renew, the
student must maintain a 2.5 grade-point average. The scholarship
expires after five years from the award date.
COMMUNITY
COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS
Four
(4) scholarships are available – two at each college – at
$250 per student each semester. The scholarships are renewable
for three additional semesters, for a total of $1,000 per
student for two years of school. The scholarships are not
transferable to any other educational institution.
Scholarships
will be awarded according to need (75 percent) and merit (25
percent), which will be based on a letter from the student
describing his or her educational goals and plans for the
future, as well as any special needs or circumstances the
student may have. To renew, the student must maintain a 2.5
grade-point average. The scholarship expires after five
semesters from award date.
