COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT - BY EMPLOYEES
Cooperative employees raised thousands of
dollars for local charities over the past few years! |
Carteret-Craven employees have a long history of
involvement in the communities where they live. They serve as
leaders in their churches and civic clubs. They provide direction
and leadership to the youth as scout leaders and sports coaches and the
are involved on a daily basis with the education of their children.
Our employees and friends have raised more than $70,000 over the past
year for three charities—Relay For Life, March of Dimes and the Harold
Anderson, Jr. Memorial Fund.
The Relay For Life team was the top local
fund-raiser last year, bringing in more than $32,000 of the $248,000
raised countywide for the American Cancer Society.
The March of Dimes team raised more than $4,800 this year to help
fight birth defects, and the memorial fund brought in more than $30,000
to fund projects to honor CCEC Lineman Harold Anderson, Jr. who died in
2003 while restoring power during Hurricane Isabel. Since 2003,
employees have given back nearly $200,000 to communities the cooperative
serves.
